About the Seminar
• Various legal issues that require appraisals / appraisers
• The legal process and how the appraiser must
fit into the mess
• Rules of evidence that your appraisals must meet
• How to prepare for trial
• File and information requirements
• Landmines that the appraiser must watch for
• Most common mistakes made by appraisers
• What to expect at trial
The “Moot Court” portion of the class will allow six appraisers the chance to practice being an “Expert Witness” in a casual court setting.
We will have three mock trials (2 residential, 1 commercial). Each trial will allow two appraisers to defend their appraisal (we will provide the example). By going through the “trial” experience, appraisers, who wish to expand their business into legal work, will have a chance to prepare and practice before it really counts.
Moot court will allow the appraiser the opportunity of answering questions (cross examination) regarding an appraisal. After each session, experts will critique the cross examination and offer suggestions that will help the appraiser enter into a new field of Appraising for Legal Issues.
Volunteers Wanted
Don’t just sign up and learn by watching...... we need six volunteers willing to practice defending an appraisal. We need you to volunteer to be an "Expert Witness". To take advantage of this opportunity to practice, please contact Richard Hagar, SRA at: rh@americanappraisals.com.
